Of course, every woman (and girl) should be wearing a well-fitting bra.

What does my calculator do?
I designed a calculator for women and girls to use. Starting from AAA cups to larger cups D and up.

- that’s how close bra sizes can be!
- it may well be that you might fit two different bra sizes and both may fit you fine
- different brands may have a different fit

How come we end up wearing a wrong sized bra?
Our body sizes may change during life,
and so may our bra size.
We keep reading about the high percentages of women who wear the wrong bra size (varying from 60 to 80%).
I always thought these percentages to be a bit high. But after measuring myself and other women I found out that many women indeed still wear the wrong bra (including me).
From the first four women I measured, three of them were not wearing the right bra. They knew it, they felt it, and saw their bad-fitted bra in the mirror. These women all had different body and bra sizes, from AA to D+ cups.
Reasons why we stick to the wrong bra
Wearing a wrong-sized bra will surely
NOT make you happy 😐
Why we hold on to a bad-fitted bra?
- we wear this bra size for many years now, never really wondering if the size is still the right one
- we never had a proper bra size in our lives before, still accepting this
- our body and breasts have changed (weight changes, childbirth, operation,
etc. ), but we haven’t checked our bra sizes - we know the bra isn’t right but we don’t take the time to measure ourselves or get a bra fitting
- someone else measured our bra size and we keep it, although we don’t feel happy with the bra size
Quick guide to measuring your bra size
Measuring yourself is not difficult,
it may take no more than 10 or 15 minutes.
First, you measure your underbust and bust size. So that’s two measurements.
Secondly, you’ll compare your measurements in a bra size chart or in a bra size calculator.
Voila, that’s it.
Measuring tips
- My advice is to measure a couple of times and write down the outcomes. Only a slight difference in your measurements could mean you would fit another bra size.
- Don’t let this scare you! It’s important for you to find out if you’re just in between two bra sizes. It could mean you would fit two different bra sizes and they both fit you just fine.
- For example. Your bra size is 40D. Your band size is however close to 38 as well. You might fit 40D, but you might also try 38E.
- When you go up or down a band size, your cup size volume will change too. If you want to keep the same cup size, but need another band size? Just go down or up a cup size as well to keep the same cup volume.

Researches say 60 to 80 percent of women do NOT wear their right bra size
This calculator estimates bra size based on bust size and band size (frame size). To ensure accuracy, measure to the nearest ¼ inch or ½ cm. This calculator provides results for the United States, the United Kingdom, European Union, France, Belgium, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand.
The bust size is the loose circumference measured around the chest over the fullest part of the breasts, while standing straight with arms to the side, and wearing a properly fitted bra.
The band or frame size is the firm circumference, fitted not tightly, measured directly underneath the breasts.

Incorrect bra fit
Surveys and studies often cite that anywhere between 70-85% of women wear incorrectly fitted bras. While data collection methods between various sources is not consistent and these percentages may be inflated, incorrectly fitted bras are nonetheless a significant issue, evidenced by the number of studies, articles, and complaints surrounding the issues women face due to a lack of size standardization. Studies have revealed that the most common mistake made by women when selecting a bra was to choose too large a back band and too small a cup. Part of the issue is lack of standardization regarding band and cup sizes. These vary largely between countries, and even manufacturers, making it difficult to use these measures as anything more than an approximate fit. A 34B bra from two different companies for example, may not fit the same person because of this lack of standardization.
Some signs of incorrectly fitted bras include the band digging into the torso or sliding upwards, red marks, shoulder or neck pain, the breasts overflowing around the edges of the bra, and the bra's center panel not lying flat against the breast, among others.
Bra size
The two major aspects of bra size are the band size and the cup size.
Band size (frame size)
The band size is the size of the bra band around the torso. However, band sizes come in different measurements in different countries, in that sizes such as small, medium, and large, equate to different measurements. Refer to the table below for some size measurements, though some variation from the published measurements is possible.
Band Size | FR/BE/ES | EU (Standard EN 13402) | US and UK | AU, NZ |
XXS | 75 | 60 | 28 | 6 |
XS | 80 | 65 | 30 | 8 |
S | 85 | 70 | 32 | 10 |
M | 90 | 75 | 34 | 12 |
L | 95 | 80 | 36 | 14 |
XL | 100 | 85 | 38 | 16 |
XXL | 105 | 90 | 40 | 18 |
3XL | 110 | 95 | 42 | 20 |
4XL | 115 | 100 | 44 | 22 |
5XL | 120 | 105 | 46 | 24 |
